Dollhouse miniature furniture Sgabello Chair, Italy, Circa 1489. Walnut finished wood. By Bespaq Miniatures.
Sgabello is an Italian term for a specific type of backstool typical of the Italian Renaissance. They generally have an octagonal seat with a long back splat which was often carved with a family's imprese or emblem drawn from its coat-of-arms. They would often be placed in hallways; their primary purpose was not lounging comfort.
